My Mission as a coach is to assist athletes at all abilities in reaching their full potential, in sport and in life, encouraging athletes to pursue their dreams and goals while maintaining - achieving a balance with multisport and life. I have been a USAT certified coach since 1999 and 16 year veteran of triathlons. I have a passion for endurance sports and helping others achieve their dreams. I have experience as a coach working with the beginner athlete to elite competitors. I consider myself a typical age group competitor, balancing all demands of life with training and competition. I know how challenging it can be, being married with two children, Megan and Cameron. My Background At the beginning of my multisport career in 1991, I tipped the scales at 220 lbs, but I had a fire in my heart and discovered a competitiveness that I never knew was there. I had medical professionals tell me that my body would not hold up to the abuse of running and cycling. But I chose to pursue my dream of being an Ironman. It is through faith, hard work, sacrifice and training smart that I have achieved so much in multisport. The road was not easy, but I have learned so much about myself in the process. People often ask me why I do Ironman or would chose to run for 9 hours non-stop. And my response to them is this: God gave me the desire and ability to "go long" wouldn't it be a waste to not utilize these gifts? And in the process (as a coach) help others that never believed they too could achieve the same. Yes, I am an athlete but more importantly I am a coach that desires to help athletes live the dream and achieve what others say is impossible! |
